Haiku and Birthday Snow

Reading back over my recent posts I realize I need to update two more things.

It snowed on Pop's birthday--making it a perfect day. In fact, it began snowing on his birthday and snowed overnight with an accumulation of over a foot! The snow's gone now, but it was wonderful while it lasted. (And, of course, we enjoyed snow ice cream!)

Ben thought he was reading an update haiku, but was disappointed.
Here is a haiku that may satisfy.

Hurray for Aldi.

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose....

A male elephant is called a bull. A female elephant is a cow. This holds true for a number of other animals, too. If, however, you were referring to any elephant in general you would call it---an elephant.

Now, regarding the animals we commonly call cows, what kind of animal are they anyway? There are (plural) beef cattle and milk cattle--both cows and bulls. But what is the singular of cattle?

I'm Puzzled

Why, if fire is spelled f-i-r-e, is fiery spelled
f-i-e-r-y?

Why do we spell the number 4, f-o-u-r, but spell 40, f-o-r-t-y?
44 is spelled f-o-r-t-y--f-o-u-r!
